Green Goddess Baku aims to focus on all things beneficial to mind, body, spirit & plants. To connect like minded souls and help create a healthy, happy consciousness here in Baku
The group was created by Helena Marsden from Ireland who lives in Baku as an Expact, she put this group together so that people can help and inspire each other to live a more mindful and healthful existence her in Baku. Helena says – It’s not about fad diets. Trying to be a size zero… Nor is it anti-chocolate or anti-alcohol (!) and all those other things that can make life a little sweeter. It’s hard to sustain a balance though isn’t it especially when living abroad. This is an issue that I’ve heard many people speak about. So my intention is to create a positive, affirming network here whomever wishes to be part of it.
Here below is an advert that Helena put on her Facebook page about Streamline Personal Training Services and personal training on how it can help people here in Baku.
“Here at Green Goddess HQ, its all about a holistic approach to heath & wellbeing. And when it comes to fitness, there are many ways to exercise our bodies and keep them ticking along nicely. For some people that means practicing yoga everyday, for others that could mean talking regular walks and getting out in nature. Some prefer to hit the gym and pump some iron! And there are many who are goal orientated and seek to be challenged to the max physically. There is no right or wrong way as far as I’m concerned because every’body’ is different, literally. So what can work for one person may not suit another at all.
But for those who like a challenge… Green Goddess would like to present Baku newbie – Susan McFarlane. Susan is a fully qualified British Personal Trainer, Pilates Instructor & Nutrition Advisor that has been working in the Health and Fitness Industry for 12 years.
Here’s what she had to say to GG…
GG: “Susan, what inspired you to get into personal training & nutrition?”
Susan: “Fitness and sport have been my life since childhood; I have played several individual and team sports including swimming, tennis, hockey, squash, netball, athletics and dance.
My employment in the Fitness Industry began in 2002 at The Edinburgh Club whilst I was completing my HND Fitness, Health & Exercise, followed by an Hons Degree in Business and Sport Studies. Throughout my education and career I have signed up to several health and fitness courses and that has allowed me to teach exercises classes and build up my knowledge of the Fitness Industry. I enjoy participating in several exercise classes, running full and half marathons and other exercise routines where I can challenge my body. All of these factors have contributed to getting me to the position I am in my career today. My passion in fitness and sport is to help individuals of all abilities to achieve their goals.”
GG: “Please describe a typical session with you – what can a potential client expect?”
Susan: “Your programme will be tailor made to suit you and will push you to achieve your optimum level of fitness, strengthening you both physically and mentally. It will initially be designed to allow you to meet your fitness goal but we will develop it to become an integral part of your lifestyle, to ensure that your achievements are long lived. I currently train clients in Roseville at my apartment, and I can train indoors or outdoors if the weather permits. Sessions would involve using your own body weight, plus exercises using weights. Apart from the obvious physical benefits, getting fitter can be a great boost to your self-esteem, and I love to see my clients growing in confidence as the sessions go on and they continue to push themselves further.”
GG: “Whats your personal ethos when it comes to health and fitness?”
Susan: “My moto in life is “Instead of giving myself reasons why I can’t, I give myself reasons why I can.””
GG: “How can Bakuvians contact you to book Personal Training sessions?”
Susan: “People can contact me via email: [email protected] or via phone: 0508737940.”
For testimonials from Susan’s past clients, check out her website – www.streamlinept.co.uk – and do let GG know how you get on if you sign up for some sessions with Susan! Summer is almost upon us so maybe its a good time to blow off the cobwebs and get active again!”
