Normally, summer is a bit quieter for me as a Personal Trainer. People head off on holiday, routines go out the window, and exercise habits tend to… well, drift away with the ice cream vans. It’s usually the time of year when I plan to work on my business rather than in it - fresh ideas, website updates, maybe even a bit of admin catch-up (ha!). But not this year.


This summer has been my busiest yet, and while that 'business improvement time' hasn’t happened, I’ll happily forgive my wonderful clients. Because honestly, what I’ve seen over the past couple of months has been nothing short of brilliant - when exercise truly fits into your life.

I think we’ve finally reached a turning point where the idea of exercise fitting into your life - not taking over it - is actually becoming a reality for people. And this is exactly how it should be.


You shouldn’t feel like you have to press pause on your health and fitness every time school holidays roll around or you jet off on holiday. Movement should slot into your world seamlessly - not add stress or guilt.


For me, a healthy lifestyle isn’t about six-week slogs or chasing 'bikini body' goals. It’s about balance, flexibility, and creating habits that work for you. That means:


  • Short, simple workouts that you can squeeze in even when life is full.

  • Plans that adapt whether you’re at home, away on holiday, or just juggling the chaos of everyday family life.

  • A mindset shift from “I have to” to “I get to” - seeing movement as self-care, not punishment.


And this summer, I’ve seen that approach click for so many clients. They’re proving that you don’t have to fall off the wagon just because it’s hot, busy, or you’re away. You can keep going, just in a way that feels good for you.


A Client Win Worth Celebrating


One of my favourite moments this summer? A client packed her resistance bands for a holiday abroad and asked me to tweak her programme so she could keep active while away. No pressure, no rigid rules - just a realistic plan that worked for her, with a few smart swaps to suit the space and equipment she had.


That’s what I love to see. Fitness that bends with your lifestyle, not the other way around. It’s not about “all or nothing.” It’s about doing something - even a little bit - because it makes you feel strong, confident, and energised.
