Why I Think Hybrid Personal Training Is the Best Way to Train (Especially in January)

January has a funny energy, doesn’t it?
On one hand, there’s a quiet pull to reset - to feel better, move more, sleep better, and get a bit of you back after the chaos of December. On the other hand, life doesn’t suddenly slow down just because it’s a new year.
Work is busy. Kids’ clubs are back in full swing. The nights are still dark. And the idea of committing to multiple weekly gym sessions can feel… unrealistic.
I know this because it’s my life too.
Between work, two young boys, after-school activities, and the general juggle of family life, I need flexibility; but I also know I do best when I’ve got accountability and support. That’s exactly why I’ve been falling more and more in love with a hybrid way of training.
Not all online. Not all in-person.But a balance of both.
And honestly? I think it’s one of the best ways to access personal training right now.
Hybrid personal training combines the best bits of in-person coaching and online training, without the downsides of either.
Here’s what the model looks like:
• We meet in person first to assess, chat, plan, and set you up properly
• You follow a tailored online programme, accessed through the app with dedicated support from me, that fits around your week
• We catch up in person once a month to review, progress, adjust, reconnect and train in person
That monthly face-to-face session gives structure, accountability, and confidence - while the online support gives flexibility. And the data backs this up.
Research consistently shows that:
People who have regular accountability check-ins are significantly more likely to stick to exercise long-term
Flexible training models reduce dropout rates compared to rigid gym-only plans
Hybrid coaching improves consistency because it removes barriers like travel time, scheduling clashes, and fatigue
In other words:It’s not about doing more. It’s about making it easier to keep going.
This is especially powerful in January, when motivation can be fragile and life is already demanding.

Why Hybrid Personal Training Fits Real Life (Especially for Women)
What I love most about hybrid training is how well it fits into real, messy, wonderful life.
You can:
Train at home or outdoors, on your schedule
Fit sessions around work, kids, and energy levels
Avoid dark-night gym dread
Still know you’re training safely, effectively, and with purpose
That monthly in-person session matters more than people realise. It’s where:
We check technique and movement quality
We adjust training around energy, hormones, or life changes
We talk honestly about what’s working, and what isn’t
You leave feeling reassured, supported, and motivated again
This is particularly valuable for:
Busy parents
Women navigating perimenopause or menopause
Anyone returning to exercise after a break
Anyone who wants structure without rigidity
It’s supportive without being overwhelming. Accountable without being intense. And empowering without being punishing. And importantly it removes the idea that January has to be about extremes.
I’m not interested in January being a “fix yourself” month. I don’t believe in punishing workouts, guilt-fuelled goals, or all-or-nothing thinking.
What I do believe in is:
Support that fits your life
Movement that helps you feel better, not worse
Systems that make consistency possible
That’s why hybrid personal training has become such a big part of how I work.
Whether your goal is:
Feeling stronger
Having more energy
Sleeping better
Rebuilding confidence
Or simply carving out time for yourself again
This approach meets you where you are, and moves forward with you. So if January feels like the right time to gently put yourself back on the list, but you don’t want pressure, overwhelm, or unrealistic commitments, this might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
💛 In-person catch-ups
💛 Flexible online training
💛 Real accountability
💛 Support that adapts as life does
If you’d like to chat about whether hybrid training, my Balance Package, is right for you, drop me a message. Because fitness doesn’t need to take over your life to make a difference, it just needs to fit into it.

What My Balance Packages Look Like (And Why They’re So Flexible)
One of the reasons I created my Balance Packages is because no two lives look the same, and they definitely don’t stay the same month to month. These packages are designed to flex with you. Some people need more support at the start. Others want long-term structure with minimal disruption. We adapt as we go.
That said, if you like clarity around commitment and cost (and most of us do), the best starting point is a three-month block. This gives you enough time to build habits, feel real progress, and settle into a rhythm, without it feeling overwhelming.
Here’s what that looks like:
💛 12 weeks of fully personalised training, tailored to your goals, energy levels, and lifestyle - and adapted in real time to ensure it’s working for you
💛 In-app support from me - workouts, messaging, adjustments, and accountability
💛 3 in-person PT sessions at my independent private gym in Colinton (one per month)
💛 A clear plan that evolves as your body and life change
Investment: £435 for 3 months
It’s a balance of structure and freedom, giving you the flexibility to train on your own terms, with the reassurance of expert support and regular in-person check-ins.
If you’d like to talk it through and see if it’s the right fit for you, just message me. We’ll figure out what support you actually need, not what you think you should be doing.
